This day of mahalaya carries a special significance for the Bengalis. The beginning of Devipaksha marks the arrival of Durgapujo 2021, the best festival of Bengalis. 

That tune was tied to the broadcast of the program 'Mahisasurmardini' on the radio. To the average Bengali it is known as mahalaya. This program started broadcasting from Akashvani in 1932. Many well-known people performed Chandi lessons and music arrangements at different times. The program, which aired on the dawn of the end of the patriarchy, became a part of Bengali life over time. The version of 'Mahisasurmardini' that we hear today was recorded in 1986. Where Birendrakrishna Bhadra recited Chandi in Banikumar's book. To the Bengalis, the mahalaya would not be complete without this event.
